Looking for Change in 2016?


As I begin to reflect on this past year of 2015, I am beyond amazed at how God has blessed our family & how Coaching has forever changed my life. 

Since becoming a Coach I have found a new passion & purpose in life to help others...a new-found confidence in who I am as a women, wife, mom, & friend. But most of all a COMMUNITY, a sisterhood of women who support one another in life...same heart, same mission, to serve others. 

And TODAY I am looking for 10 women that are ready to CHANGE their lives for FOREVER in 2016 starting on JANUARY 4th! 

This is ONLY for Women who are ready to COMMIT and go ALL IN to getting HEALTHY & HELPING others.

I want YOU to experience the JOY, passion, FREEDOM, and hope that I have discovered since becoming a Coach.

My 21 Day Fix Extreme Results

The Final results are in...


7lbs. & 8.5 in.

This past month I committed to the 21 Day Fix Extreme program with my challenge group...

My problematic zone is ALWAYS my mid-section...and when I clean up my nutrition I see instant results in my waistline.

No, I am NOT perfect...but I find BALANCE for MY life with exercise & nutrition. 

Over the course of 3 weeks...this is exactly what I did...

➡️ Unplugged 15-20 minutes every day 

➡️ Meal prepped every Sunday

➡️ Exercised 30-60 minutes every day EXCEPT Sunday 

➡️I ALWAYS had 1 cheat meal a week
➡️I never missed a Shakeo 

➡️Stayed accountable to my Challenge Group ladies every day 

It truly is a LIFESTYLE for me...& it can be a lifestyle for you too.  You just have to COMMIT...

Heart to Help Challenge


Some of you might be asking yourself what the Heart to Help Challenge is…

It is simply a challenge for YOU to change your LIFE...your health from the inside-out, but at the same time HELP change ALL of these kid’s lives in the picture posted. 

And since it is the holiday season there is no better time than NOW to GIVE BACK to those who are in need! 

My heart as a Coach is to create a COMMUNITY for women to feel loved & supported as they find their balance in getting healthy body, mind, & spirit. It is a sisterhood of like-minded women who are living life together…the good & the bad, flaws & ALL:) with the mission to become Imperfectly Balanced. 

Now, all the way across the WORLD in Narok, Africa, Linda Charlene, a dear friend of mine, is creating a COMMUNITY. She is providing education & healthcare to these remarkable children. Over 46 children are in Linda’s Academy and it is her mission to help them grow body, mind, & spirit.

It Started with 15 Women...



It started with 15 women...

1 Year Ago...

They BELIEVED in me & I BELIEVED in them. 

The women right here represent the start of CHANGE. Since then over 300 women have been apart of our challenge groups. 

They have discovered what it means to become Imperfectly Balanced.

A community of support & friendship has been formed over this past year. We have supported one another in the good & the bad.

Baked Tacos


Baked Tacos
adapted from Blog Chef

2 lbs ground turkey/chicken)
1 small onion diced
1 small can diced green chilies
1 recipe for Homemade taco seasoning 
1 (8 ounce) can low sodium organic tomato sauce
1 (16 ounce) can organic refried beans
2 cups shredded reduced fat Colby-jack cheese
18-20 hard taco gluten free shells

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. 

In a large skillet brown ground turkey and onion. Drain if needed then add chilies, refried beans, tomato sauce, and taco seasoning. Mix and cook for a few minutes.

Place the taco mixture into the taco shells and place into a 9 x 13 inch baking dish  standing up. Sprinkle cheese over the top of each taco. Bake at 400 degrees for 10-12 minutes or until the cheese has melted and the tacos are heated through.
Remove from the oven and top with any optional condiments for serving.

Extra Toppings
Lettuce
Tomato
Salsa
Guacamole
Plain Greek Yogurt for sour cream substitute
 
Taco Seasoning
1 tablespoon chili powder
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin
1 teaspoon sea salt
1 teaspoon black pepper

Piyo - Thoughts on Week 1

 
It was time for me to try something NEW...& I strongly trying DISLIKE new things.  I am not a risk taker at all and even trying a new workout program is difficult for me. BUT I took the plunge and decided to commit to the PIYO program by Chalene Johnson. I am a cardio addict, everything must be intense and NONSTOP and Piyo is the complete opposite of that.
 
Below are my BEFORE pictures from Day 1 of starting the Piyo program. I do not need to lose much weight, but my goals are to increase flexibility, strengthen my core, & lose that extra "fluff" I put on over the summer.
The Piyo program is an 8 week program with workouts 6 days a week, ranging from 20-45 minutes each session.  You get a nutritional guide that provides you a calorie bracket to follow. From those guidelines, I made meal plans based off of those specifications for my needs. Along with the workouts and the nutritional guidelines the only supplement I will be adding into my nutrition is Shakeology with a few occasional Protein Recovery Shakes.   
 
So my thoughts on Week 1:
 
Nutrition was great. I am use to following a meal plan and it makes easier to stay on track when I have my meals planned and prepped for the week. I did have 2 cheat meals my first week but maintained 80/20 principle.
 
As for the workouts, I struggled. They were very slow for me and honestly I was a little bored. I was slightly discouraged to see how low my calorie burn was BUT I have never had a fat % burn that high before! SERIOUSLY 63% FAT BURN!
 
By the 3rd day, random parts of my body were sore...my wrists, my feet, and my hips. Obviously letting me know that I worked out some areas that I haven't before! I really enjoyed the lower and upper define workouts which were only 20 minutes each so I added some extra cardio in with those workouts. I am excited to see what the other workouts will be like, hopefully a little bit more fast pace.
Above are my STATs from Day 7, 1 week after starting Piyo. I lost 2lbs. and 1 in. Happy with the results and proud of myself for not giving up yet!

Stop Making YOUR Perfect Plan


I never thought I would have 3 kids...I thought that I would be a Family Nurse Practitioner...

I had all these plans BUT they were MY plans NOT God's plans! 
 
We took a huge leap of faith when my husband and I decided that I would be a stay-at-home with our kids six years ago...and then another HUGE leap of FAITH when I quit graduate school and decided to become a Health Coach.

I knew I needed something MORE in life I needed something for me...to give me purpose & passion OUTSIDE of being a wife and mom. 

Little did I know one word...my BEST YES... Would completely change my life and my family's in every way. 

Becoming a Coach has been one of the best decisions I've ever made... Really God just kept putting the opportunity in front of me until I said YES!

So I challenge you today...STOP making YOUR perfect plans and start following HIS perfect plan for your life! Because his plan is way better than ours :-)

Foodie Friday - Chicken, Apple, and Sweet Potato Salad

Total Time: 2 hrs. 52 min. Prep Time: 15 min. Cooking Time: 37 min. Yield: 6 servings
Ingredients:
6 Tbsp. balsamic vinegar 1 Tbsp. stoneground mustard 1 tsp. raw honey 6½ tsp. olive oil, divided use 8 oz. raw chicken breast, boneless, skinless, sliced 1 medium sweet potato, peeled, sliced 1 medium apple, peeled, cored, sliced ½ tsp. ground cinnamon Nonstick cooking spray 1 head green leaf lettuce, torn or chopped 2 Tbsp. crumbled feta cheese 2 Tbsp. raw pecan pieces, toasted

Preparation:
1. Preheat oven to 425° F.

2. Combine vinegar, mustard, and honey in a medium bowl; whisk to blend.

3. Slowly add 6 tsp.
oil, whisking continuously until blended.

4. Place one third vinegar mixture in resealable bag. Add chicken; mix well. Marinate, refrigerated, for at least 2 hours. Set aside remaining vinegar mixture for salad dressing.

5. While chicken is marinating, combine sweet potato, apple, cinnamon, and remaining ½ tsp.
oil in a medium bowl; toss to blend. Place on baking sheet lightly coated with spray. Bake for 10 minutes, turn, bake an additional 10 to 15 minutes, or until tender. Set aside to cool.

6. Remove chicken from marinade; discard used marinade.

7. Place chicken on baking sheet lightly coated with spray. Bake for 8 to 12 minutes, or until cooked through. Set aside to cool.

8. Combine lettuce, sweet potato mixture, chicken, cheese, and pecans; toss gently to blend. 9. Drizzle with remaining dressing; toss gently to blend.

10. Divide evenly between six serving plates.

It is TIME to MENTOR

A fire was lit inside of me a few weeks ago at Summit about our team & where we have been called to be. We have been a team for 10 months now and we are #114 out of 300k...kind of remarkable!

Foodie Friday - Chicken Satay with Peanut Sauce

Coconut milk, honey, and a touch of spice make this Thai appetizer a delicious snack or light lunch.
 
Total Time: 2 hrs. 21 min.
Prep Time: 15 min.
Cooking Time: 6 min.
Yield: 8 servings, 2 skewers and 2 Tbsp. dipping sauce
 
Ingredients for Chicken Satay:
3 shallots, finely chopped
6 cloves garlic, finely chopped
½ cup canned lite coconut milk
2 Tbsp. fresh lime juice
1 Tbsp. raw honey
3 fresh cilantro sprigs, chopped
¼ tsp. ground cumin
¼ tsp. ground turmeric
2 lbs. raw chicken breast, boneless, skinless, cut into 2-inch chunks
 
Ingredients for Peanut Dipping Sauce:
2-3 Tbsp. hot water
½ cup chunky peanut butter
3 Tbsp. fresh lime juice
1 Tbsp. raw honey
2 Tbsp. reduced-sodium soy sauce
½ tsp. chili sauce
 
Preparation for Chicken Satay:
1. Soak 16 wooden skewers in water.
2. Place shallots, garlic, coconut milk, lime juice, honey, cilantro, cumin, and turmeric in blender; cover. Blend until smooth.
3. Place chicken in a glass dish. Top with marinade; mix well to blend. Marinate, covered, in refrigerator for 2 hours.
4. Preheat grill or broiler on high.
5. Place 2 to 3 pieces of chicken on each skewer.
6. Grill or broil skewers for 5 to 6 minutes, turning every 2 minutes, or until chicken is no longer pink in the middle, and juices run clear.
 
Preparation for Peanut Dipping Sauce:
1. Place water, peanut butter, lime juice, honey, soy sauce, and chili sauce in a small bowl; whisk to blend.
2. Serve 2 skewers with 2 Tbsp. dipping sauce.

My Review & Results from the 3 Day Refresh

 
This past week I completed the 3 Day Refresh & I absolutely loved my results...especially since I put on a little "fluff" from vacation and the 4th of July!
 
The 3 Day Refresh is for anyone looking to lose a few pounds fast and/or to look and feel better in just 3 days. This program is for anyone that wants to kickstart their nutrition, break bad eating habits, get ready for a big event and look their best, or for just a routine “refresh” of their body.  I know for me personally, I like doing the refresh after I have had a recent food binge from vacation or a holiday! After completeing the refresh you will lost weight, decrease belly bloat, feel lighter, improve digestion, feel healthier, curb cravings, and increase energy. 
 
  
 
The meal plans consists of 3 vegan shakes a day, a fiber drink, lots of water, fresh fruit, veggies, and healthy fats so that you can maintain your energy while stripping out all animal by-products and processed foods.
 
 
Day 1: Lots of energy & belly bloat started to decrease. No workout on day 1.
 
 
Day 2: STARVING!!! All I wanted to do was eat eggs or protein...I did not workout on day 1, but I did on day 2 and all I could think about was food. I had lots of energy, abs became more defined, & lost 2lbs/2in.

 
Day 3: Feeling AWESOME! My waist & my body appeared more defined and less "fluffy". Did not workout on day 3. Lost 4lbs/4in.
Day 0 aka Day 4 - REFRESH COMPLETE - Feeling wonderful. Belly bloat has decreased tremendously, visible definition in my abs, lots of energy, and lost a total of 5lbs/4.5in.
 
 I would recommend the 3 Day Refresh to anyone that is looking to get their health back, gain more energy, and or lose some extra unwanted weight!
