Wellness Wednesday - Omega 3s

I love fish oil...especially for the health benefits! The American Heart Association recommends everyone eat fish at least twice a week. While foods are your best bet for getting omega-3s in your diet, fish oil supplements are the next best thing. I personally like the benefits of the added supplementation to my diet for mental clarity, muscle/fat loss, healthy skin, and heart health.
Omega-3 fish oil contains both docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA). Omega-3 fatty acids are very important in preventing and managing heart disease. Most of Americans do not need omega 6 and 9's as we consume those in our diet and too much omega 6 can cause inflammatory problems.

Benefits of Taking Omega-3 fish oil:
  • Lower blood pressure
  • Reduce triglycerides
  • Slow the development of plaque in the arteries
  • Reduce the chance of abnormal heart rhythm
  • Reduces change of heart attack and stroke
An omega 3 fish oil supplement may also help improve or prevent the following:
  • cancer
  • Alzheimer’s disease and dementia
  • depression
  • heart disease
  • ADHD
  • diabetes
  • hyperactivity
  • reduces stiffness and joint tenderness associated with Rheumatoid arthritis
  • Improve a person’s ability to concentrate and just think clearer

For those that workout, fish oil is also highly recommended as one of the few supplements that should be taken by anyone with the goal of building muscle, losing fat, or improving their fitness level or athletic ability in any capacity.
I have a tendency to burp fish oil but these two products below I've never had a problem with. I currently use this Carlson omega 3 fish oil and I take a teaspoon in the morning and at bedtime.
