Motivation - UNGLUED
My favorite summer book has been UNGLUED by Lysa Terkeurst. The book is about learning how to make wise choices in the midst of your raw emotions.  I am pretty sure any person you ask would agree that women have a tendency to be very emotional causing them to say irrational things, make unwise choices, and say things that they should never say!  We all have been there before when your kids or husband are driving you crazy and you literally can't take any more and you just EXPLODE! If that has never happened to you then something is wrong with you! As women we are so interconnected to EVERYTHING which means our emotions are connected to EVERYTHING.

When summer break began I started to realize that I was letting my emotions get the best of me in multiple situations of my life.  And that is when I decided to start reading UNGLUED.
This book has opened my eyes on how badly I can react and non-react to people in my life like my kids, spouse, parents, family, and friends. UNGLUED simply teaches you how to gain control over your emotions and learn how to have "soul integrity".
One of my favorite sections of the book is the chapter called The Prisoners. This chapter discusses the labels we put on ourselves and how we are an "unfinished sculpture".  In this paragraph Lysa the author is writing about the David by Michelangelo.
Then I turned and looked down the corridor at the David, the statue fully chiseled by a master artist. And as I walked toward it, I whispered, "O God, chisel me. I don't want to be locked in my hard places forever. I want to be FREE.  I want to be all that you have in mind for me to be...God doesn't allow the unglued moments of our lives to happen so we will label ourselves and stay stuck. He allows the unglued moments to make us aware of the chiseling that needs to be done...Let God chisel. Let him work on your hard places so you can leave the dark places of being stuck and come into the light of who he designed you to be. God is calling us out of darkness, out from those places we thought would never get better, out of being STUCK" (UNGLUED, P.37).

Every one of us has our own issues, labels that we have placed on ourselves...standards that we hold ourselves too. But what has God called you to do and be. This paragraph made me realize I want to be free from those labels I've placed on myself such as "PERFECT MOM", "PERFECT WIFE, "PERFECT FRIEND", "BEST STUDENT", "BEST EMPLOYEE", "BEST PARTY PLANNER", "OVERACHIEVER", "PERFECTIONIST", "MOST PUT TOGETHER", "BEST DRESSED", "BEST IN SHAPE"...You name it I have probably labeled myself that! There is nothing wrong with striving to be all that you can be, God has called us to work hard and honor Him in all we do. But we all know the difference! I am constantly growing and changing to be a better wife, mother, and friend. Every day I fail but I get back up and I ask God to take those "unglued" moments and make me a better person, a better woman of God. So I want to encourage all of you that read post today to first read UNGLUED, second, take control of your emotions, and third let God chisel!
