Motivate Monday - My #1 Book

We all have our favorite motivational or self-help books...I know I have a list of my own!
The most impactful book for me has been Jesus Calling by Sara Young.  When I started dealing with anxiety my mom gave me this book, June of 2012. I read the entire devotional and now continue re-reading it, so now on year 2! This is by far my go to motivational book and I have sent it to many friends!!
Every day that I read the devotional, I feel like it was written just for me. It talks about anxiety, stress, control, time frames, purpose in life, and learning to LET IT ALL GO! Areas that I have struggled with my entire life… If you don't have this book, I recommend getting it!!! Sara Young has many other devotionals too; I have Jesus Lives and Jesus Hopes too.
In today’s Jesus Calling devotion, the key part that stands out to me is that "Sometimes My blessings come to you in mysterious ways; through pain and trouble" and " calm their fears and clear their minds". I know we can all agree that we have had pain and trouble, but He can always use it for good. God can turn any situation into good if you let Him! God will cover you in His peace if you trust him; He will take away your fears and clear your mind of worry.  So I encourage you all today on Motivate Monday to know that whatever you are going through right now, let go and trust God.

Find your Peace & Be Thankful!

Tone & Tighten Tuesday - Get Your Body Moving

Everyone seems to dread the word “workout”...and I use to not like it either until I actually needed it!
I grew up very active involved in cheerleading, gymnastics, and track. Once I was out of high school I didn’t “purposefully workout. It wasn’t until after l had my 3rd child that I HAD to start working out. You could say that I have always been a “high stress” type of person, Type-A personality, controlling, and a busy bee. I really didn’t see the need to work out plus I thought I was in good shape for not working.  After I had my 3rd baby I dealt with a lot of stress and anxiety that I had never dealt with before, my body felt like it was going to combust! I had multiple factors going on in my life and it created the perfect storm in my body resulting in ANXIETY! A good friend of mine who is also my massage therapist said you need to go run, swim, and let some steam off! So I listened to him and that day I started swimming in my neighbor’s pool or just running in my neighborhood for 20 minutes. Within a week I could feel a difference after I worked out. I felt lighter and the tension just left my body. And you know if you are a parent, we love our kids but they can bring a lot of stress into our bodies!!!! I gradually added more and more exercise activities and began to LOVE it.
It has now been almost 2 years in June that I started working out and I enjoy it even more now. I am not saying it hasn’t been easy and I have had to push myself to workout but the benefits are so worth it!   Alongside of working out, I changed my diet and starting eating cleaner and made a conscious effort about the food I put into my body. “You are what you eat” right?  My life has truly been transformed from working out and eating clean healthy foods. Not only did I make the change but my family’s eating habits changed too.
So I want to encourage any of you that read this to get up and get your body moving! It is only to going to make you feel better and help you live a longer healthier happier life and maybe help with that stress you are carrying around in your body!

A few tips on how to get started:
1.       Make an obtainable goal – If not working out try working out once a week, then move up to twice. Eventually you’ll begin to enjoy it and want to work out more!
2.       Find a friend – A workout buddy is the best way to keep you accountable. I actually joined a friend’s boot camp, Julia Zammito at Total Body Results. It kicked my butt into workout mode and helped developed the habit of working out 3 days a week. I now workout with someone every day when I workout. It makes it fun and it gives me some social “grown-up” time without my kids which every mom needs!
3.       If you can’t go to a boot camp or go to the gym, do something at home. I love Tone It Up and the trainers. You can sign up for the newsletter and purchase the app for $1.99. Each day they post daily workouts you can do at home with a video. This is my back up plan when it is raining out or I can’t leave the kids.
4.       Believe in yourself, because you CAN DO IT!

Motivate Monday - Let Go

So today is my FIRST OFFICIAL blog post and what better way to kick it off with a motivational post!
Over the course of a few years now I have been learning to "let go".  All of my life I have struggled with the need to control and be in control...I am not saying I still don't struggle with it but I am constantly working on it! Whether you are a friend, wife, mother, or daughter its normal to try to control your life so that it is predictable and safe.
For as long as I can remember, I have tried to control every detail of my life...which makes it hard to handle situations that arise in your life that are "unplanned".  God surprisingly has brought MANY unexpected events into my life that I did not expect, but don't we all know that trials produce perseverance and builds our faith.  There are countless times where I ask God "why" but then I realize I would never be who I am today and who I will continue to grow to be if I didn't face those trials and tribulations.  God does not expect us to be perfect but what about  being "Imperfectly Balanced".  God never asked us to be perfect neither should you expect yourself to be (which I have tried to be perfect for years)....but He did tell us in 1 Peter 5:8 to be " firm in faith, strong and immovable".  So I've decided to be "Imperfectly Balanced". I will give my all in every situation, honoring and pleasing to Him, and make sure that I am well-balanced spiritually, emotionally, mentally, and physically.
In this discovery of being well-balanced I have grown closer to the Lord, become a better wife and mother, developed a love for exercise and eating right, and it truly has changed my perspective on life. Of course I am NOT PERFECT and I struggle every day with something, but He is always there to help me get back up and start over. So I encourage any of you who read this post, LET GO and enjoy life. Stop being the controlling, worry wart, perfectionist person you are trying to be and be the person God wants you to be. God has an amazing plan for me and for you, so let Him take control of your life.

Below are a few of my life verses, so I hope they can MOTIVATE you today:)
